REIKI & SOUND THERAPY

rest, restore & heal

Ease stress and calm your nervous system with gentle energy and sound.

This is a deeply nourishing 60-minute session that blends Reiki with calming sounds that can include singing bowls, tongue drums, wave drums and chimes to name a few.

Each session supports emotional regulation, energetic alignment and a grounded nervous system. Ideal for when you're feeling stretched thin, out of balance or needing an energetic tune up!

WHAT IS REIKI & SOUND THERAPY (this is the good stuff!):

Reiki:

If you're anything like most of the women I work with, your nervous system is running in fight or flight mode most of the time: always lightly switched on, even when nothing dangerous is actually happening. Reiki helps shift you into your rest and digest mode allowing your system to actually rest and recover. Your heart rate slows while cortisol, the stress hormone keeping you wired, starts to drop and your nervous system finally gets a chance to rest, restore and heal.

Energetically, Reiki works to balance and clear your energy centres (chakras). I like to think of Reiki as an energetic transfusion: it helps clear out stored or negative energy (yours and what you've unintentionally taken on from others) and fill you up with clear, bright, shiny energy!

Sound Therapy:

Sound Therapy works on your brain and body at the same time. The frequencies emitted from the instruments I use help shift your brainwaves out of Beta, the fast, alert state most of us live in all day, and down into Alpha or Theta, the slower states your brain moves into when you're deeply relaxed or drifting toward sleep (not fully awake, not quite asleep but that beautiful, relaxed state in between).

At the same time, low frequency sound stimulates the vagus nerve which runs from your brainstem down through your gut and is directly responsible for switching off your fight or flight mode. Plus (the really cool bit ...) because your body is made up mostly of water, sound doesn't just get heard, it travels through your tissues, bones and right down into your cells, working almost like a gentle internal massage that reaches tension you can't get to any other way.

And all you have to do is lay down, chill out and enjoy!

WHAT HAPPENS IN A SESSION:

Arrival and Grounding:
You'll arrive into a calm, welcoming space and settle onto the Reiki bed, covered, supported and comfortable. I'll help you block out the world with your choice of a lavender or unscented eye pillow and guide you into relaxation with three cleansing breaths. I then use my Native American drum to clear energy and anchor you into the space.

Reiki:
I use gentle hand placements around your body, always with your comfort in mind (hands-on or hands-off, entirely your choice). I start at the top of your head, then move over your eyes and ears before placing my hands underneath your head. From there I move to your shoulders and down your left arm, to your belly and down your left leg, before mirroring the same path on your right side and finishing at your ankles. I also use sweeping motions on your arms and legs, which helps relax you and is also an act of sweeping energy down your body and out through your heels. Everyone experiences Reiki differently and every session can be a little different but you may feel warmth, tingling, heaviness, lightness and/or a sense of deep rest. Some people simply feel calm and peaceful.

Sound Therapy:
I have a range of instruments available and what I play in each session is different. I have calming music playing throughout the entire session and play instruments towards the end of your session. These can include Crystal and Tibetan singing bowls, tongue drums, wave drums, thunder drum, tuning forks, rain shaker and wind chimes. I finish each session with three chimes of the tingsha bells.

Integration:
You'll be gently guided back into your day feeling clearer, lighter and calmer.

AFTER YOUR SESSION:

Reiki keeps flowing for a few days after your session so there are some things to keep in mind:

● Take it easy where you can. It's common to feel fatigued after a session, so avoid anything that requires you be highly active or switched on for the first few hours. This wears off quickly.

● Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated is important and helps prevent the headaches that can follow dehydration.

● Follow what your body needs: rest or enjoy some light movement or a gentle walk.

● Give yourself some quiet time to reflect and enjoy how you're feeling. If you have time, head to Central Park or Cato Lake (or even your own lawn!), take your shoes off and connect your feet with the earth and take a few slow, deep breaths.

● Notice what shifts in your mood, clarity, creativity or emotional release. Reiki can also heighten your intuition, so pay attention to what comes up.

● Expect a great night's sleep, though occasionally, after a bigger energetic session, you might feel a little restless that first night. That's completely normal, it just means the Reiki is still doing its thing, and you'll usually sleep even better the night after.

Most clients describe feeling spacious, clearer and more settled for days afterward.

FAQs:

What do I wear? Wear whatever you like that is comfortable. I have heating and cooling in the room and you will always be covered, either by a light sarong or with plenty of layers depending on the time of year!

Will I need to talk during the session? Only at the beginning. Once we start, you simply rest and receive.

Is Sound Therapy loud? Some instruments are soft and gentle, while others rise in volume so the vibrations can support deeper release. Sometimes the sound of particular singing bowls might feel uncomfortable but don't let this scare you off. If you experience this, that means that sound is affecting your brain, body and nervous system to help release something you're holding physically, mentally or energetically.

Can I book this regularly? Yes. Reiki has a cumulative effect so each session you are likely to go deeper and experience greater benefits. Many women find regular sessions (between 2 to 4 weeks) help maintain emotional balance and energy grounding. I will give you the offer of rebooking at the end of your session.
